Conversations with God - The Lord's Prayer
Matthew 6
January 19 - February 23, 2020
In the weeks to come before Lent, our thoughts will focus around the practice and discipline of prayer which we as Christians embrace and value.¬† God has encouraged people to pray to Him throughout the ages.¬† There are several principles that we gain from Scripture about prayer and the greatest outline that we have for prayer is given to us by Jesus in what we have named, ‚ÄúThe Lord‚Äôs Prayer.‚Ä̬† If we look at the teachings of Jesus about prayer, Jesus gives us several concepts that we are blessed to be able to refer to as guidelines for our prayer life.¬†¬†

The Names of Jesus
December 1, 2019 - January 12, 2020
We know that God‚Äôs promise of a Savior was completed in the person of Jesus.¬† Jesus was born of Mary and Joseph, who gave Him the name because of the dream Joseph had when an angel of the Lord appeared to him.¬† But we also know that Jesus was given several descriptive names throughout both the Old and New Testaments.¬† Luke tells us that it is only by Jesus name that mankind will be saved, ‚ÄúAnd there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.‚Ä̬†
(Acts 4:12)  During this season of Advent and Christmas, we will discover some of the names given to our Lord Jesus and the meaning behind those names.

The Promises of God
September 22-November 27
God does not back away from His covenant promises to His people.  We are blessed to know that God always keeps His promises.  Whether it was the promise that God made to the Israelites in the Old Testament or the promise of the Messiah fulfilled, God has kept His word.  Jesus is the fulfillment of God’s promise of a plan of salvation for all
people.¬† The writer of Hebrews says of Jesus, ‚ÄúLet us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.‚ÄĚ ¬†

Celebrating God's Faithfulness-Proclaiming the Living Christ
August 4-September 15
In this 50th year of the existence of Living Christ Lutheran Church, the focus of our ministry remains the same as the first day that the thought of a new church in this area was conceived.  The Word of God would be that basis for our
teaching and a simple concept was stated by Pastor Dennis Lorenz when he said, ‚ÄúAs we begin to see the need in this community, this congregation should not do what has been done traditionally, but ask ourselves, ‚ÄėWhat would Christ do?‚Äô.‚Ä̬†We continue to ask that question as we reach out into this community.¬†

Joy-filled Living
June 23-July 28
When we look at the principles in the Bible that are shared as we have a relationship with our God they are often described as being joyful.¬† That joy may be expressed in ‚Äúpraise‚ÄĚ or ‚Äúrejoicing,‚ÄĚ it may be expressed in knowing the depth of dedication that God has for us, or it may be manifested in the love that God shows for us and we show for God in how we live.¬† Joy-filled living is the result of knowing that Jesus has given all that is required for us to have an eternal relationship with God.¬† Throughout the following weeks, we will be discovering the joy in living that we know from our great, good God.¬†

The "I AM" Statements of Jesus
May 5-June 9
When Jesus shares the ‚ÄúI AM‚ÄĚ statements as we find them in the Gospel of John, He is sharing life changing truths about himself.¬† When you say, ‚ÄúI am a Minnesotan,‚ÄĚ those who listen know you as one who is from Minnesota and that perhaps you have a tolerance to cold weather.¬† When you say, ‚ÄúI am a Christian,‚ÄĚ people understand that you are a believer in Jesus Christ as your Savior.¬† As we explore the ‚ÄúI AM‚ÄĚ statements of Jesus, we realize that Jesus is opening to us a door to His nature and character that reveals some profoundly significant truths about our Savior.¬†
